  • Economy class cabin seatsThe Economy Light and Economy Classic cabin class fare has standard seats with a seating pitch of up to 31 inches. In contrast, Virgin Atlantic's Economy Delight cabin has standard seats with a pitch of up to 34 inches. 
  • Premium class cabin seatsVirgin Atlantic's premium class cabin seats have a seating pitch of up to 38 inches, additional legroom space, large leather seats, and premium cuisine options.
  • Upper-class cabin seatsVirgin Atlantic's upper-class seats are made of extra-large leather, which provides more comfort and a luxurious feeling. They can also be turned into a fully flat bed, creating a large space.  

What Are The Different Types Of Seating Available At Virgin Atlantic?

The seating arrangement on Virgin Atlantic's planes might vary slightly from one aircraft to another. Still, there are consistently seats located near the exits, behind the bulkheads, and at the front of the cabin, accommodating the diverse needs and costs of its travellers, which can be seen as:

  • Extra legroom seats- Extra legroom seats are available in every cabin of every aircraft except for economy light and classic cabins. 
  • Preferred seats—Virgin Atlantic's preferred seats are the front seats of economy and premium cabins, and passengers can reserve them at extra charges.  
  • Exit row seatsExit row seats are available near the exit doors and can be assigned to 16+ individuals to whom Virgin Atlantic seems fit and doesn't mind doing a little extra legwork in any unlikely emergency situation.
  • Unavailable seatsThese front-row seats are behind each cabin divider and are reserved for passengers travelling with their little ones and those requiring special assistance. 

How Can I Change My Seat On A Virgin Atlantic Flight?

Virgin Atlantic simplifies changing seat or cabin class procedures before your flight. You can seamlessly explore your options and customize your travel experience, ensuring you find the perfect seat for your journey. Below, you'll discover detailed information on how to manage your seating preferences: 

  • Log in to your Virgin Atlantic account.
  • Open "My Bookings"
  • Choose the flight to which you want to change your seat.
  • Select "View or Change Seats" to access your flight's seat map.
  • You can select a seat from the available options either in the same cabin for free or in a different cabin for a fee.  
  • With Virgin Atlantic, you can pay for an upgraded seat using cash, points, or a voucher.
  • Confirm your new seat selection and pay for the changes, if applicable.
  • Receive your changed confirmed itinerary at your registered email address. 

Can I Receive a Refund If I Don't Get The Seat I Paid For?

Yes, if you have already paid for the seat in Virgin Atlantic but don't receive it, you may get the amount of the refund if:

  • Virgin Atlantic cannot provide the paid seat due to operational, security, safety, or other circumstances.    
  • The airline must have changed your seat assignment and can't offer a comparable alternative.   
  • While you are shifting to Virgin Atlantic's alternative flight after it gets cancelled, the airline can't offer you a comparable alternative seat, and/or there is no availability of advanced seats. 
  • If you have to move to an alternative flight with another airline after the Virgin Atlantic flight gets cancelled. 
  • If Virgin Atlantic denies boarding due to the flight being oversold, you will be offered advanced seats on the next travel date you are available. However, it is subject to the availability of the new flights being operated by Virgin Atlantic.
